Hanson is a professor of economics at UC San Diego, and holds faculty positions in the School of International Relations and Pacific Studies and the Department of Economics. Hanson is also a research associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) and co-editor of the Journal of Development Economics. Prior to joining UC San Diego in 2001, he was on the economics faculty at the University of Michigan (1998-2001) and at the University of Texas (1992-1998).

   Carlet received her B.A. in political science with a focus on Latin America from UCLA in 2000. Originally from Tijuana, Mexico, she is fluent in Spanish and Italian. She has worked mainly in the nonprofit and education sectors, and began working for the CPE in October 2006 after working at the Center for U.S.-Mexican Studies for three years.

   Amy received her B.A. in art history with a focus on museum studies from the University of West Florida in 1996. Originally from Florida, she relocated to San Diego in 2003 and joined IR/PS as a member of the external relations unit. She has worked mainly for art-focused organizations and in higher education.
