Hanson is a professor of economics at UC San Diego, and holds faculty positions in the School of International Relations and Pacific Studies and the Department of Economics. Hanson is also a research associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) and co-editor of the Journal of Development Economics. Prior to joining UC San Diego in 2001, he was on the economics faculty at the University of Michigan (1998-2001) and at the University of Texas (1992-1998).

  Jill holds a B.A. in English and Theatre from Washington College. A transplant from the East Coast, she worked in communications in both higher education and theatre administration before moving to San Diego in April of 2008. She has several years of experience in freelance feature writing, news reporting, and web design.

  Amy received her B.A. in art history with a focus on museum studies from the University of West Florida in 1996. Originally from Florida, she relocated to San Diego in 2003 and joined IR/PS as a member of the external relations unit. She has worked mainly for art-focused organizations and in higher education.

  Derek is a California native and completed his undergraduate degree at Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego. Derek then earned an M.A. in Sport Management from London Metropolitan University in the United Kingdom. Derek has worked professionally in various capacities ranging from interning for the U.S. Department of State in The Hague, Netherlands to sailing around the world coordinating activities on-board a floating university known as The Scholarship.
