Gov. Lazaro Cardenas Batel is a former governor representing the Party of Democratic Revolution (PRD) from the Mexican state of Michoacan. Gov. Cardenas Batel is a member of a distinguished political family: his grandfather, Lazaro Cardenas del Río, served as president of Mexico from 1934 - 1940, and his father, Gov. Cuauhtemoc Cardenas, was a three-time presidential candidate.
