The Center on Pacific Economies will host a conference on the subject of “New Product Research in Microfinance” on April 23 & 24, 2009. Organized by Dr. Craig McIntosh, Assistant Professor Economics, and Dr. Gordon Hanson, Professor Economics and Director of the Center on Pacific Economies, the conference will bring together researchers, practitioners, and funders in order to foster debate on new product design for microfinance institutions and to help academicians determine how to understand these innovations better.

The conference will be organized by three half-day sessions, relating, respectively, to microinsurance, new savings products, and the innovative use of IT by MFIs. Each of these sessions would be hosted by a panel of three experts.

The conference will be held concurrently with a meeting of the Board of Directors of the Grameen Foundation.
