Prospects for U.S.-Japan Relations: A Turning Point?

Pacific Leadership Fellow Glen Fukushima, President & CEO of Airbus Japan, will present a lecture about the significant ways the U.S.-Japan relationship has changed over the last 20 years. Mr. Fukushima will examine how the connection between our two countries went from being called “the most important bilateral relationship in the world” to taking second place to the United States’ relationship with China and Japan’s increasing focus on Asia and Europe. Drawing on the past and projecting toward Japan’s upcoming election, Mr. Fukushima will discuss the specific changes that merit close attention by both the U.S. and Japan.
A 5:30 p.m. opening reception will precede the 6 p.m. lecture, which will be followed by a closing reception. This event is free and open to the public.
