PACDEV attendees are invited to attend this conference. Please click here for the conference flyer.

The 2008 Pacific Conference for Development Economics (PACDEV) is presented in coordination with faculty from UC Davis, UC Berkeley, Stanford University, University of San Francisco, University of Southern California, UC San Diego, Saint Mary's College and Santa Clara University. The goal of the conference is to bring together graduate students, faculty and practitioners to present and discuss various issues facing developing economies today.

This year's conference will be held in Southern California for the first time, at the School of International Relations and Pacific Studies at UC San Diego. The conference is designed to offer attendees a choice of five out of ten sessions. Each of the conference sessions will consist of presentations of  two to four academic research papers in a given area of research. The conference organizers will group papers into coherent themes, and paper presenters are also invited to organize panels on their own for submission to the organizers.

The morning and afternoon sessions are separated by a luncheon with panel discussion entitled "International migration and remittances: are they a vehicle for or an obstacle to economic development in LDCs?"
